October Village Market

Held on the first Saturday of each month, Ruddington Village Market features a huge variety of stalls on The Green. Market day is a great chance to stroll around and also visit Ruddington’s many local shops and businesses.

On Saturday 7th October, around eighty visiting traders are expected from 9am until 2pm on our village green. The full listing of these retailers, with their corresponding stall numbers, is shown below:

The monthly market is a project of the award winning Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP). The market has grown in many ways: initiatives include a Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme (to mentor 16 to 30 year olds into market stall businesses) a partnership with the Trent Bridge Trust’s YouNG Project (to offer under 16s the chance to trade), an electrical repair service in tandem with Illumination Repairs CIC – and locals can ask about the village by visiting Ruddington Parish Council‘s tent. Councillors welcome your ideas or concerns for the local area, and can tell you more about what’s coming up in Ruddington.

Market organisers say: “We’ve got Mike Payton returning to the green with his tales from under the monkey puzzle tree! Anyone who has little ones who have heard Mike before will attest, he is amazing and has the kids entranced with his exciting stories!

“Also head over to see George from Pixie Face Painting to keep little ones entertained. We’ll be running the bar and as ever, we have loads of delicious food and drink. available. “

For October, live music comes from acoustic duo Myld Stallyns and also upbeat jazzy swing sounds from Ellie’s Cats. Friends of James Peacock School (Stall 52) is charity of the month.

The White Horse on Church Street – the Village Market’s original venue – is also staging its usual smaller market on the same date – running from 9am to 2pm.

Market days are very busy in Ruddington, and parking spaces are rather limited in the village centre, so residents are encouraged to walk there, if they can. The arrangements for parking  this month are as follows, and shown on the maps below:-

• For those travelling from A60, Notts, Loughborough & the east, it’s best to park on Rushcliffe Country Park & Mere Way (head to NG11 6JS), available from 8am-6pm. The price is £1 for the Country Park or free street parking.
• For those travelling from Clifton Lane, Wilford Road, West Bridgford via Wilford Road direction, we have parking available on Sellors Field between 9am-2.30pm. This is free.

For visitors from further afield, there’s also an NCT discounted Market Day travel ticket if you come to Ruddington by bus.  RVCP says: “We’re super excited to be partnering with Nottingham City Transport to offer 15% off adult and Grouprider tickets on Market Days. All people need to do is scroll down to the NCT Partners category in the Mobile Tickets section of the NCTX Buses app, choose your ticket, enter discount code RUDDMARKET, and you’re good to go!”
